Background, Storylines and Questions

Some spoilers for "May I" and "All This Time" after the cut.

I have a feeling that there's going to be a lot more characters on "All This Time" than "May I". I haven't counted fully, all the original characters that were in MI (At least twelve off the top of my head) and I already have about half of that planned for ATT.

(It's late here--so if I happen to replace a word with some random word or don't seem to make sense, that's why. Don't worry...I'm going to bed after I write this all up). This is kind of the first time that I've actually planned all the characters at once, and I have the tendency to come up with them, and then have a hard time trying to figure out a storyline for that particular character. It always seems like more often than not, I write something and do the total opposite--which is also why I don't really give a ton of clues for the stories--or give the actual storylines--since as you know, things change so much as the story develops.

Even though I know I might end up regret coming  up with everything in one period of time (seriously not a bad thing at all), it'll be fun to see how everything pans out. I know only a little bit more than you--like some of the storylines and who the actual characters are and some other important background pieces and things, but that's about it. I haven't even started writing "All This Time" yet, so at this point: it's just as much of a mystery to you as it is to me.

I can definitely say that I'm going to be diving even deeper into Gillian's past (which also means Ryan and Sean's as well). I don't know about you as a reader, but as a writer my mind was just going crazy with questions at some points, asking... well what exactly happened when their parents died in that car crash? Was somebody responsible? And why is Gillian and her brother's so distant from each other? Okay, so we've seen Ryan (Gillian's older brother) but what about her younger brother, Sean (Shawn), will we see him too?

Thanks to a friend--you know who are--for reminding that no, we haven't seen Sean yet in the story. Her brother Ryan only talked about him. If you didn't catch the background that I posted at the end of one of the chapters on May I (can't remember which one) on some of the characters, Sean actually lives in D.C. like Gillian does, while Ryan lives in New York. And that does pose some interesting questions about why she and Sean live so close, but she never goes to visit him. Kind of the same with Ryan; even though he lives in New York, why don't they see each other or visit?

I did write in there (and I've probably mentioned this little fact many times, but I'm going to say it again) that Ryan was coming down to visit in June (storywise of course!), so if it all works out--I'm definitely going to have Sean visit as well--maybe unexpectedly? I guess that's something that we'll all have to see, and hopefully I can answer some of those questions as well as I start writing this next story.

I am ecstatic that you are SO excited for this sequel. I was thinking just tonight how crazy it was...how I could have stopped right there when I ended May I. Cal and Gillian finally kissing seemed like the perfect ending, and hopefully in a way, it felt like they were continuing life on--even though the story has stopped (not really) and now you're anxiously awaiting the sequel.
